SAN MANUEL, AZ - Firefighters from five agencies are battling a fire at the Republic Plastics plant in San Manuel.

According to the Oracle Fire Department, crews from Oracle, San Manuel, Mammoth, Rural Metro and the Golder Ranch fire departments are working the fire.

Fire officials say the first call came in around 1:30am Wednesday.

We're told 15 people were inside the plant when the fire broke out. All were able to escape. Two people were transported for smoke inhalation. Crews say the fire could burn for several more hours. There is no word at what started the fire.

According to its website, Republic Plastics was established in 1999. The plant manufactures premium private label foam products for the consumer-retail and institutional-foodservice tableware markets to compete with national brands. Republic Plastics supplies most U.S. grocery retailers with a private label tableware solution.
