TUCSON - Isolated weekend storms will be followed by near record heat.
After a couple of mainly dry afternoons across Southern Arizona, high pressure will begin to move into a more favorable position for a few isolated storms to fire up this weekend. Storms that do develop will do so in the mountains before struggling to make it to the valley floors.
Storm coverage will not be as widespread as it was earlier this week but we will hold on to just enough moisture for a few hit or miss storms into early next week.
A strong ridge of high pressure builds overhead in the coming days driving temperatures to near record levels. By next Wednesday Tucson will be flirting with temperatures near the 110 degree mark for the first time this year.
