SAN LUIS, AZ - A doctor has surgically removed a one-pound package of methamphetamine from a woman's pelvis after federal agents say she tried to smuggle the drugs into Arizona from Mexico.
KPHO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/11NBJzd) that 31-year-old Claudia Ibarra was taken into custody this week at the Port of San Luis when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers suspected the bizarre smuggle try.
Officials say Ibarra then was transported to a nearby medical facility where the doctor found and removed the package of drugs.
Ibarra was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
It was not known if she had an attorney.
