WASHINGTON D.C. - A shutdown has been averted.
President Barack Obama says a last-minute deal with congressional leaders prevented a government shutdown.
This agreement will cut about 38-billion dollars in federal spending, and will avert what would have been the first federal closure in 15 years. The agreement cuts that spending through September 30, which is the end of the budget year.
