TUCSON - The FBI is now involved in the search for a serial bank robber they call Smokey the Bandit.
The man is accused of robbing 6 banks in both the Phoenix and Tucson area, 5 in August alone.
Investigators say he wears a baseball cap and sunglasses during the robberies and gives the teller a note demanding money.
He appears to be between 45-55 years old and between 5'8" and 5'11" with a medium build.
The suspect has been described as a very tan white male with brown hair, a gray goatee, and rough hands.
Witnesses say he smells like cigarettes, so the FBI is referring to him as Smokey the Bandit.
They say he was seen fleaing a robbery in a silver two door Ford pickup truck with a possible rectangular emblem or advertisement on the driver's side door.
