TUCSON - A deadly crash has shut down an intersection on the city's southside.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department confirms one person was killed when three vehicles collided at Palo Verde and Irvington.

Deputy Tom Peine says one of the vehicles was a Department of Corrections vehicle that was transporting a prisoner. The DOC employee and the prisoner survived the crash, but their conditions are not known.

Rural Metro says there were reports one of the vehicles caught fire after the crash, and emergency crews are working to evaluate the conditions of everyone involved.
