BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. - A portion of Interstate 17 is closed due to a fatal collision, prompting Arizona transportation officials to warn holiday travelers of delays.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says Saturday's crash involved a driver traveling in the wrong direction on southbound I-17 north of Black Canyon City.
Television station KNXV reports two people were killed in the multi-vehicle crash.
Southbound drivers were being forced to exit at Sunset Point and travel northbound. The northbound lanes have been reopened, but officials say a heavy backup will take time to unwind.
Those traveling south can exit at State Route 69 in Cordes Junction.
