PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly accident in North Phoenix on the eastbound Loop 101 near 27th Avenue.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves said a Lexus SUV drove off the eastbound Loop 101 and into a support barrier for the Interstate 17 off ramp.
Graves said a 50-year-old woman was killed. She was the lone occupant of the SUV.
Graves said an investigation is under way, but preliminary indications are excessive speed contributed to the fatal accident.
Traffic is slow in the area, but there are no road closures.
