SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - At the request of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the Air Force will be holding a meeting March 30 in Sierra Vista to answer questions and offer information about the F-35 jet fighter.
Giffords said she was pleased the Air Force realized that Sierra Vista residents should have the opportunity to get information and be heard, especially since some F-35 training flights will take place at the Army's Fort Huachuca airfield.
The Air Force announced in October that it had selected the 162nd Fighter Wing of the Arizona National Guard in Tucson as one of five locations under consideration as a site for F-35 pilot training.
Giffords has strongly supported basing the F-35 in Tucson, calling it a tremendous economic boost to Southern Arizona.
