DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE - Officials at Davis-Monthan AFB have released a picture of an F-16 that flipped onto another F-16 Sunday during a monsoon storm.
The F-16's are in storage at the Boneyard, so they have been stripped down for storage. The steel cable tie-downs used to secure the aircraft to the desert floor snapped due to gusting winds up to 65 miles per hour.
Severe winds and heavy rain caused damage to several buildings across the base as well as base housing during the monsoon storm, Sunday. Power lines and poles were also damaged, resulting in power outages.
There were no injuries reported. Flying operations were back to normal by Monday afternoon.
