Explosion levels homes in Indianapolis; 2 dead

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An explosion and fire in Indianapolis has killed two people and damaged more than a dozen homes.

The Indianapolis Fire Department said in a statement Sunday morning that two bodies were found during the night.

Firefighters have been going through burned and damaged homes one by one after putting out the fire that started after the explosion at about 11 p.m. Saturday.

The explosion forced about 200 people from the devastated neighborhood and seven people were taken to the hospital with injuries.

The victims' names have not yet been released.

Lieut. Bonnie Hensley, with the Indianapolis Fire Department, says the neighborhood "looks like a war zone."

The blast was heard for miles all around and the cause of the explosion remains unknown.
