TUCSON - May is National Osteoporosis Prevention Month - this bone disease affects about one out of every five American women over the age of 50, and in recognition of this, News 4 at 4 interviewed with an osteoporosis expert.
Osteoporosis happens when the body fails to form enough new bone, or too much old bone is reabsorbed by the body. It is mainly a disease in women, but men can get it as well.
Rebekah Rotstein is in Tucson this week, lecturing at Canyon Ranch about this silent disease and what you can do about it.
