TUCSON - Tucson police are investigating a homicide on the east side. 87 year old Frida Beezley died as a result of being shot during a robbery.
It happened near 22nd and Kolb just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Tucson police say the owner of the home heard the dogs barking and when he checked it out he says two masked men forced their way into the home. They had a gun and shot the homeowner in the arm.
Tucson police spokesman, Sgt. Matt Ronstadt says, "The homeowner, retrieved his own gun and fired back." The masked gunmen fled to another part of the house, "When the victim came out of the room he was in, his mother had suffered from a gunshot wound as well."
Police say she was hit in the stomach and taken to a hospital with where she later died.
Alyssa Navarette learned of the shooting while watching the noon news, and rushed to make sure her mother who lives across the street was O-K.
"A little bit too close for comfort when you see your house on the news because of a murder or because of somebody being shot," said Alyssa.
Members of the victim's family showed up at the scene and were in tears over what happened. Neighbors say they're a very close family, and they can't figure out why that house was targeted.
Police say they have a sketchy description of the suspects.
They are asking the public for their help if they have any information. They can call 88-CRIME or 9-1-1.
