TUCSON - Border patrol agents say they caught a dozen smuggling suspects carrying 1,250 pounds of marijuana through the desert.
It happened Tuesday night near Pia Oik, a small town on the Tohono O'Odham Reservation.
First the agents identified what appeared to be a group of smugglers carrying the bundles. then, they called for aerial support, leading to the capture of 11 adults and one underage person.
Agents estimate the pot's worth $625,000. It was turned over to the DEA and the suspects will face federal smugglnig charges.
