TUCSON - The driver who was killed in a single-vehicle rollover accident on I-10 south of Tucson this morning has been identified by Department of Public Safety officials.
Kelsey Schmitzer Maruska, a 23-year-old woman from Oro Valley, was driving a 2005 Ford SUV westbound on Interstate 10, southeast of Tucson near the Pima County Fairgrounds. According to a news release from DPS, she was possibly driving, possibly at a high rate of speed, when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway. She steered the vehicle back to the right, onto the roadway, then again steered the vehicle left.
It was then that the vehicle rolled and ejected Maruska, who was not wearing a seatbelt, DPS officials say. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
