SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Scottsdale police say a man has been arrested near the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Half-Marathon after arguing with an officer about road closures caused by the race.
Police spokesman David Pubins says 55-year-old Lawrence Martz, of Phoenix, was arrested Sunday around 8:30 a.m. in Scottsdale.
Pubins says Martz was near a closure at 68th Street and Thomas and became upset at not being able to go where he wanted.
Authorities say Martz drove his Ford pickup at a high speed northbound on 68th Street and was stopped by an officer.
Police say Martz then became verbally abusive with the officer.
Martz has been booked on counts of reckless driving and disorderly conduct.
More than 25,000 runners are taking part in the annual marathon and half-marathon.
