VAIL- The Pima County Sheriff's Department arrested the driver of the SUV that rolled Friday night in Vail, killing 18-year-old Armando Hernandez.
Deputies say 41-year-old Joan Laidlaw was driving on Pistol Hill Road around 9, when she failed to stop for a stop sign. She hit a dirt berm causing the vehicle to roll.
According to Deputy Tom Peine, Laidlaw tested positive for marijuana and other depressants. She is charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault.
Hernandez was partially ejected and became trapped under the vehicle. He died as a result of his injuries.
Laidlaw and another 16-year-old passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Deputies say they found illegal drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle.
