Downed power line causes small brush fire, road closure in Sierra Vista

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - State Route 92 was shut down for about an hour this afternoon after a semi-truck pulled down a power line, causing a small brush fire.

At about 12:06 p.m. today, a semi-truck hauling construction equipment on SR 92, in Sierra Vista, became entangled with a power line, causing the line to be pulled down across the roadway, according to a news release from the Sierra Vista Police Department.

The downed power line ignited a small brush fire, but it was quickly put out by the Sierra Vista Fire Department, the release states.

SR92 was closed for about an hour from Foothills Drive to Avenida Cochise in Sierra Vista. Crews were able to clear the roadway and restore power shortly after 1:20 p.m. today. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued, but the investigation continues.
