Double digit violations for eateries

TUCSON - Here's a look at violations by resturants for the month of June:

Marcela's Cafe and Bakery received ten critical violations. At least 30 flies were counted at a food prep area. One was found in a container of soup. An employee was observed preparing rolled tacos with bare hands. Sealed bags of beef tested at 57-degrees, well over the required maximum 41-degrees. Five gallon containers of refried beans and green beans were stored in cooler with expired discard dates. With more than 4 critical violations not corrected during the inspection, Marcela's Cafe and Bakery, at 715 W. Dorsey in Ajo, was given a "Provisional" rating.

Golden Coast Super Buffet received four critical and eleven non-critical violations. Flies were observed throughout the restaurant, including in the sushi prep area, buffet line and kitchen. A slicer had encrusted food debris on it and had not been cleaned in at least a day. Employees were seen handling dirty dishware and then touching clean dishes without first washing their hands. With critical violations not corrected with the inspector on site, Golden Coast Super Buffet was given a "Needs Improvement" rating.

Restaurants awarded "Excellent" ratings this week include, Ghandi Cuisine of India, at 150 W. Fort Lowell, Los Molinitos, 2323 N. Pantano and El Parador Restaurant, at 2744 E. Broadway.
