PHOENIX (AP) - An undercover operation by Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies has ended with a man jailed and four pounds of black tar heroin off the streets.
Sheriff's spokesman Chris Hegstrom says the deputies stopped a car driven by 37-year-old Mario Alberto Hernandez Friday night in west Phoenix. A police dog sniffed out the heroin during a search.
Hegstrom says the heroin was smuggled from Mexico and was probably being transported through Arizona on the way to the East Coast.
