TUCSON- A 35-year-old man was arrested Thursday on drug and child abuse charges after Pima County Sheriff's Deputies found several pounds of drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to PCSD Chief Deputy Chris Nanos, the PCSD Border Indication Unit pulled over an Isuzu Rodeo on I-10 near Avra Valley Road around 11:40 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle, Saul Estrella-Lizarraga, was travelling from Nogales, Sonora to Phoenix with his 9-year-old son, Nanos said.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found 7.5 pounds of heroin, 5 pounds of cocaine and 3.3 pounds of methamphetamine.

Estrella-Lizarraga was booked into the Pima County Detention Complex on six counts of Narcotic Drug Violations and one count of Child Abuse, Nanos said.

Deputies released the child to his mother.
