TUCSON - People fill the streets of downtown Tucson, saying this protest is bitter sweet in regards to the recent injunction of SB 1070.
"It was a celebration too that we did it but still there's a lot to fight for," said Priscilla Teran.
According to Tucson police, close to 300 demonstrators were letting their voices be heard, causing some to block traffic resulting in 13 arrests, but eventually were cited then released.
"Ample time was given for them to leave the intersection. A decision was eventually made to arrest those folks that would not leave the intersection voluntarily," said Captain Michael Gillooly.
But police said those arrests were expected.
"They had planned to be arrested today, the ones that we did in fact have to arrest which is a normal course of action for a non violent protest," said Gillooly.
And protestors said they hope today's efforts will make a difference.
"It was really intense, a lot of people got arrested and I'm glad a lot of people came out to support us," said Kalena Noriega.
