TUCSON - Trick-or-treaters were out in costume Wednesday, celebrating Halloween, but this day has a different meaning for some victims and their families of violent crime.

On October 31, 2004, a hunter found the remains of brothers Francisco and Gregory Flores. Family members in Mexico say were here to work. It's unclear what their jobs were.

According to Detective Mark O'dell, "The area they were found in is known for illegal immigrant trafficking as well as a drug trafficking corridor."

The Flores' had been in the desert about a year. Their remains were scattered by animals. Abackpack and clothes were close to some of the bones. There was evidence they'd been shot.

October 31, 2000, deputies responded to a residence in Avra Valley. Detective O'dell says, "The scene was very bloody and very gruesome."

John Hoskin was brutally stabbed to death in a mobile home. The kitchen and hallway were saturated with blood. It had just rained, so the killer's boots left tracks in the mud. Thomas James was arrested. The detectives say, "There was a four-year-old child present at the time of the incident who described in great detail what she had seen."

On October 31, 1993, Michael Robertson's body was found in an irrigation canal near Marana. His hat, cigarettes, and drug paraphernalia were nearby. Eric Padilla was charged with the murder. Unbeknownst to him, two of his buddies were uncover ATF agents.

"Once the murder had been done by Mr. Padilla, he contacted the agents and then tried to get them to murder the only witness to his incident," detectives say.

In two of the three cases, the people responsible are serving time for the murders. Detectives are hoping to catch a break in the 2004 case by putting those responsible for killing the Flores brothers behind bars.
