TUCSON - The Tucson man who hit and killed a bicyclist in September of 2011, according to court documents, was sentenced in Pima County Superior Court today - he was given a combined sentence of over 33 years in prison.
Edward Gomez Nava, 48, was sentenced to 21 years for Manslaughter (less 225 days served) and 12 years for Aggravated DUI, court officials confirmed to News 4 Tucson, with the two sentences to be served consecutively.
Nava pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Manslaughter after being charged with Second Degree Murder.
Bicyclist Albert Eugene Brack was kille after being hit by a truck allegedly driven by Nava on September 4, 2011, Police say Nava fled the area. They found his Ford F150 pickup truck a short time later and then located Nava on foot.
Brack was taken to the hospital where he died. Police say he was wearing a helmet.
