Couple steals relief items from Monument Fire evac. center

SIERRA VISTA - Two criminal incidents yesterday related to the Monument Fire were reported by Sierra Vista Police Department.

At 2:55 p.m. yesterday, Charles E. Fisher was arrested for Failure to Comply with a Police Officer, stemming from an incident on June 17 during the fire emergency near Buffalo Soldier Trail and Coronado. He has since been cited and released, SVPD officials say.

At 5:10 p.m., a relief worker at the evacuation center at Apache Middle School reported a theft. A couple signed into the evacuation center, claiming to be victims of the Monument Fire, and took items intended for displaced residents. The suspects are known, and the cast remains open pending contact with them.
