TUCSON - The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted to approve re-zoning for building a luxury-style apartment home complex on Tucson's east side.
The developer scaled back its original plans to construct 130 new homes at a site located near Sabino Canyon Road and Cloud Road. It's been a source of controversy for nearby residents who protested the development.
The board voted to approve the re-zoning 4-1 with Supervisor Ally Miller as the only opposing vote.
The county received more than 660 letters in protest of the development. It also received more than 530 signatures in support of the project.
Moving forward, the vote requires a traffic study to be done on the affect area.
