A Tucson man accused of raping 3 women and killing 2 of them has changed his plea, to avoid the death penalty.

Apollo Ortega entered into a plea agreement with the state in court Friday afternoon.

Ortega was arrested in Oct. 2008 for the murders of Magnolia Ortiz and Norma Jean Conner.

Police say DNA evidence linked Ortega to the crimes.

As part of the plea deal, he agreed to two natural life sentences, and will be sentenced next month.
