BEIJING, CHINA - U.S. officials plan to meet Friday with a Chinese dissident who left U.S. diplomatic protection and now says he fears for his family's safety.
They then plan to discuss options with Chinese officials.
Chen Guangcheng called in to a congressional hearing and said he wants to meet personally with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is in Beijing. Chen's comments were translated to English by a rights activist testifying at the hearing.
He said he hoped to get more help from Clinton and wanted to thank her face to face.
