TUCSON - The Community Food Bank and its five branch food banks are asking the citizens of Southern Arizona to join "Hunger Action Month 2010" in September.
"Hunger Action Month" is when the Community Food Bank asks everyone to take action to fight hunger in our communities. The month long event is an opportunity to join a movement that has real and lasting impact on our efforts to feed more families than ever before. Whether it's by advocating and raising awareness, making donations, or volunteering, individuals can find a way that's right for them to make a difference during "Hunger Action Month 2010."
"30 Ways in 30 Days" is the overall campaign for the month of September. Everyone is encouraged, throughout the month, to take action each day in a new way.
The Community Food Bank will feature a local "30 Ways in 30 Days" calendar on its Web site to help people learn about opportunities to get involved in their community. To find out how the public can help, go to www.communityfoodbank.org. Each day's suggestion on how to help will be highlighted on the home page with a link to the entire month's events.
There will be a variety of suggested events listed from attending a Community Food Bank Farmers' Market to taking a tour of the Food Bank with Bill Carnegie the President/CEO. There will be a number of food drives listed where the public can drop off non-perishable donations. The Food Bank has a goal of collecting 30,000 pounds of food for "Hunger Action Month 2010."
