A cold case that's nearly 20 years old is now getting looked at by one of the daughters of the victims.

She claims she knows who is responsible for the double murder.

Brothers Howard and Mort Custer were shot and killed in August of 1993.

Detectives say it was execution style.

Its case News 4 first profiled in 2009.

Howard Custer had recently retired as an educator in Chicago and had come to spend some time with his brother Mort.

The two had taken a road trip to Las Vegas prior to being murdered.

The men had also visited Mort's daughter in Los Angeles.

She's a private investigator who is now putting her skills to bringing her father and uncle's killer to justice.

Denise Savastano says, "The person who did this went in there with the sole purpose of murdering my father."

Detectives agree, they say there was no forced entry; the men were shot at close range.

Sgt. Brad Foust who heads the Cold Case unit says, "I believe there was some monetary issue is what the motive was in this case."

Denise Savastano spent the last year going over case reports she obtained from the detectives. As a private investigator she's keyed in on some important details that in her opinion points to the killer.

"My dad did give him a large sum of money; it's documented not only on paper but my dad made a tape."

Mort Custer also left behind a hand written note that was hidden.

"It basically says if something was to happen to me this is the individual who did it, and names the individual."

That individual became a person of interest early on and was questioned about the debt by detectives.

Sgt. Foust says, "That suspect was able to provide for us years ago basically a note if you will from Mr. Custer saying the debts paid."

Savastano says, "I believe that 1 of 2 things happened my dad signed it under duress, or he did pay it back and afterwards he killed my dad."

The daughter claims that money never surfaced in any of her dad's account.

Sgt. Foust says, "We have a pretty strong suspect. But obviously us knowing and her knowing and us being able to prove it in a court of law is two different things."

Savastano says her brother's health is not good and she's hoping the man responsible for the murders will be brought justice before she loses another family member.

The family is hoping and praying this is the year someone with information will come forward.
