City of Tucson looking to reduce cost of parking fines

TUCSON- Councilman Paul Cunningham is pushing to lower the cost of certain parking tickets downtown.

Some of the traffic fines as high as $188.

"We want to take a look at making our parking fines more comparable to other jurisdictions, and make sure we have a customer friendly downtown," says councilman Paul Cunningham.

Those fines are for not parking within 18 inches of the curve and parking too close to an intersection or stop sign.

Ana Charin says she got one of those $188 parking tickets.

"I am on my way to pay my ticket; I have to ask for a payment plan because I cannot pay in full," says Charin.

Tuesday council members and ParkWise will meet to discuss the possibly of reducing parking fines.
