TUCSON-In the spirit of things, some families are finding creative ways to bring the Christmas joy to the airport as their loved ones arrive.
There's the usual arrival lounge at TIA with those anxiously waiting for the plane carrying their loved ones to arrive, and then you have the Schlabach and Martins.
They're anxiously waiting, too.
Each year they plan a special Christmas greeting for their loved ones as they arrive to the airport.
This year, chicken, elf and Santa hats and Christmas cheer all around.
Laura Schlabach is arriving from Texas to visit her family for the holidays.
She didn't expect this greeting from her family.
"It's embarrassing in the best way. I think it's so ridiculous that it brings a little bit of joy to everyone who sees it," she said.
She goes to school out of state and is happy to be home for Christmas.
"It's really special. My family just moved back. I grew up here and they just moved back, so I was looking forward to being here," said Schlabach.
She said the surprise greeting makes even more special.
"I think it's really fun," she said.
Schlabach said most of the family is spread out across the country, so every time they come home for a few days, they surprise them with something fun.
