Child Porn found in former officer's computer

TUCSON - A warrant has been issued for a former Tucson Police Officer after police say child porn was found in his computers.

The Internet Crimes Against Children unit began its investigation into Martin Ward in March.

Police say, they identified the online sharing, and distribution of child pornography in Tucson that led to Ward's east side home.

The neighborhood is normally quiet, with most of the residents are retired and have lived there over 40 years. Residents say they were surprised when Tucson police raided the house located in the 9200 block of East Palm Tree Drive.

Ron Swanson says, "I thought maybe there was a family situation going on, that needed the police. I had no idea that was it child pornography. That was a big shock."

29-year-old Martin Ward is a former Tucson Police officer who left the department after five years on the force.

TPD officials say he resigned in lieu of termination in December 2012.

In September of 2012 he was booked into the Pima Co. Jail on domestic violence charges.

The Internet Crimes Against Children unit spent hours bringing out bags of evidence. Inside some of the bags, investigators found lots of compact discs.

Inside the van special equipment used to process the evidence. Computers taken from the house were lined up to be processed.

Bea Swanson, is a retired teacher, she says "this is a very calm neighborhood we have a neighborhood watch, so we must have missed out on that one."

Neighbors tell me that once the police leave, they're hoping the neighborhood and the street returns to normal.

If you know of Martin Ward's whereabouts you are to call 911.
