TUCSON - University of Arizona Museum of Art Director, Charles Allan Guerin has announced that he will be stepping down from the position he has held for the past 12 years. Guerin is also the founding Director of the newly minted and endowed University of Arizona Archive of Visual Arts.
Guerin said, "The hardest part of my decision to step down is that I will be not working on a daily basis with my incredible staff, who have worked selflessly to make this Museum the top-notch institution that it is today, and the many other wonderful people connected with the Museum and the Archive, our donors, board members, docents and friends." Guerin says he plans to refocus his time on teaching and other opportunities.
Dennis L. Jones, Professor in the School of Art and its Director since 2002, will become the Interim Director of the UA Museum of Art upon Guerin's departure.
