NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the Tucson Field Office say they've seized nearly 17 pounds of methamphetamine in southern Arizona.
Officers working Saturday at the Mariposa Port referred a 22-year-old Nogales resident for a secondary inspection of his sedan when he attempted to enter the United States.
After a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs, officers located 15 packages of methamphetamine inside the vehicle's engine compartment.
Authorities say the meth has an estimated street value of more than $258,000.
The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. The man was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. His name hasn't been released yet.
