TUCSON - Customs and Border Protection officers at the Lukeville Port have been credited with stopped two smuggling attempts last Wednesday, seizing nearly 217 pounds of marijuana and arresting two people from Phoenix.
Officers referred 46-year-old Eric Christopher Hansen for further inspection as he applied for entry at the U.S. border, according to a CBP news release. Officers found 76 packages of marijuana hidden throughout the vehicle.
A few hours later, officers inspected the SUV of 42-year-old Dusti Jo Hall and located 48 packages of marijuana in the spare tire and in two ice chests.
In both cases, the drugs and vehicles were seized and the subjects were referred for prosecution.
