DOUGLAS, AZ -U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers say they stopped a marijuana smuggling attempt when officers found $1,800 worth of marijuana strapped to the leg of a juvenile at the Douglas Port of Entry.
On January 2nd at about 9 p.m. CBP Officers were screening travelers when they became suspicious of a 15-year-old boy who was identified as a United States citizen and resident of Douglas. Further investigation revealed that the boy had about one pound of marijuana taped to his leg. The marijuana had an estimated street value of $1,800.
CBP Officers seized the marijuana. The boy was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further questioning. The boy was released to the custody of his parents.
