(NBC) - An elderly woman escaped unharmed after she crashed her car into a storefront office in Marlboro, Massachusetts narrowly missing three women inside.

"All of a sudden, it just felt like a bomb went off," said Amy Pizzi. "The influx of the crash coming in and all of a sudden there's a car next to me."

Pizzi had co-worker Debbie McConnell on the side of her desk and another woman across her desk when an elderly driving flew through the parking lot and into the front wall of their storefront office.

"The fire department said that we were very luck, if it was a few inches, maybe both of us wouldn't be here right now, so I'm very lucky to be alive," said Debbie McConnell.

Firefighters who responded said Pizzi was particularly lucky she got up from her desk right before the crash.

"Had she been sitting at the desk, I mean she may have been hit, she could have been pinned. There was debris thrown all throughout the office. It could have been much, much worse," said Lt. Jeff Gogan.

The 89-year-old driver was headed to a hair salon next to the office to get her hair done.

She didn't want to appear on camera, but said she was heading to a handicap parking space when she hit the gas instead of the brake and went flying through the hedges and into the building.

Alice Kimball, 84, says her car was hit by the driver and that she was seconds away from being hit herself.

"60 seconds and it's a possibility I would have been right there," Kimball said.

Pizzi and McConnell were happy to be back at work Thursday.

"The fireman looked at my desk yesterday and told me to go buy lottery tickets," Pizzi.

The elderly driver escaped without a scratch and even kept her hair appointment at the salon next door.

It is not known if the driver will face charges.
