NOGALES, AZ - A woman from Nogales, Sonora has been caught for allegedly trying to smuggle more than $60,000 in cash out of the country, through the Mariposa Port of Entry.
Customs and Border Protection officers were checking vehicles as they headed out of the U.S. when they selected a Dodge sedan for further inspection on Tuesday, April 2.
During the search, a CBP officer said he noticed the driver, a woman, seemed to be hiding something under her clothes.
That "something" turned out to be $61,850 in wrapped bundles.
Nancy Melina Lopez-Martinez, 36, and the cash were turned over to state and local authorities for further processing.
