Carson leads Arizona State past Coppin State 68-52

TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman playmaker Jahii Carson had 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists to lead Arizona State past Coppin State 68-52 Saturday in the Sun Devils' final tuneup before beginning Pac-12 play.

Jonathan Gilling added 14 points on 4 of 9 shooting from 3-point range. Carrick Felix and Evan Gordon scored 11 apiece for Arizona State.

With the victory, the Sun Devils (11-2) exceeded their win total for all of last season. They open Pac-12 play Wednesday night at home against Utah.

Troy Franklin, Michael Murray and Patrick Cole scored 13 apiece for Coppin State (3-11). Franklin made 4 of 5 3s, Cole 3 of 4.
