TUCSON - A California man was arrested at the border in Douglas Friday after Border Protection officers found nealy 8.5 gallons of liquid methamphetamine hidden in the gas tank of his vehicle.
Vasa Major, a 41-year-old Campbell, California resident, applied for entry at the border Douglas Port and was directed to a secondary inspection area were officers noticed his vehicle's gas tank appeared to be modified, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection. One of CBP's drug-sniffing dogs confirmed the presence of drugs, and after officers removed the fuel tank, they found nine containers of liquid meth, valued at $1,027,774.
The drugs were seized and Major was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
