TUCSON - The Citizens Task Force (CTF) for the Broadway: Euclid to Country Club Improvement Project invites the community to an open house on Thursday, February 28, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sabbar Shrine Hall, 450 S. Tucson Blvd. Open house attendees will be able to "Learn, Ask & Get Involved" with the opportunity to meet and talk with Task Force members and the project team, visit information booths, see displays, and ask questions. Attendees also can share feedback about the project with Task Force members via comment cards, message boards, and recorded video. A brief presentation about the project will start at 6:15 p.m.
The Broadway Boulevard: Euclid Avenue to Country Club Roadway Improvement Project is one of 35 major regional corridor projects that are part of the 2006 voter-approved Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Plan. This $71.3 million project will shape future regional mobility, the roadway's look and feel, community character, economic vitality, and the future of Broadway as a downtown gateway. The Broadway Project is currently in the Planning and Design Phase, which includes the Task Force and public involvement and participation.
The 13-member Task Force represents stakeholders along the Broadway corridor including representatives from neighborhoods, businesses, special needs, alternative modes of transportation, regional representation through the RTA, and planning. Since the project's kick-off in June 2012, the group has held 11 public meetings. The February 28 open house is an opportunity for the Task Force to update the community on the project and to listen to the public's comments.
The Task Force will report back to attendees beginning at 8:00 p.m.
about their impressions from the evening's activities.
