TUCSON - Gusty winds make a return to the desert.
As a cold front sweeps across the state, winds will whip up to 20 MPH this afternoon, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Highs today should reach the low 70's in the Tucson metro under mostly sunny skies.
The front passes through Arizona overnight, leaving behind a slightly cooler airmass. High temps Friday will run 5-7 degrees below average, with Tucson topping out in the mid 60's. Areas south and east of the metro may see freezing temps overnight Friday.
Much warmer weather is in store for the weekend. A strong area of high pressure emerges from the eastern Pacific, driving temps near 80 Sunday and above 80 Monday. Expect lots of sunshine heading into next week.
