TUCSON -A scary situation comes to a safe end for riders on a Tucson trolley car.
Capitol Police tell News4, the trolley car crashed into three vehicles after its brakes went out January 16th. Officers say the trolley was part of the system that's been operating in Tucson for about six months.
Police say the trolley car was heading south on Fourth Avenue when the brakes failed.
According to Capitol Police, there was about 10 passengers onboard the trolley. Officers say when the breaks went out, the car picked up speed and rolled down an incline towards the entrance of the Fourth Ave. underpass. Police say it lost momentum, then started to roll backwards.
Reports indicate the trolley car hit three vehicles. Capitol Police say one of its officers along with a Tucson Police officer arrived quickly and were able to park their patrol cars behind the trolley to prevent it from moving further.
