Police: Tucson teen made up abduction story

UPDATE: Tucson Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Widmer says the teen made up this story. As of Friday afternoon, she has not been arrested for the false allegations but it doesn't mean it won't happen.

The girl, 13, admitted to police that she lied about the incident because she was late for school.

TUCSON - A female student at Wakefield Middle School was approached Friday by two men in a white van, police said.

The girl was walking to school when the two men in the van approached her, the girl told police. The men had their faces covered and asked her if she wanted a ride.

The girl said no and the men drove off.

The girl told detectives she could hear screaming and yelling from inside the van. News 4 Tucson reporter Lupita Murillo has interviewed an eye witness who says a white van was seen circling the area.

Detectives are on scene investigating.
