BREAKING: Police shoot, kill armed man hiding in dog house

TUCSON - An armed man hiding in a dog house was fatally shot by police, Tucson Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Widmer said.

The shooting took place at the St. Michael's apartment complex at Woodland and Ferry-- on the southeast side of Tucson, Widmer said.

A resident of the house he was hiding at called 911. They found the man brandishing a gun in the resident's dog house, Widmer said.

The officer then fired on the suspect. Details on what prompted the shooting was not immediately available.

Homicide detectives are on scene.

Two police officers were involved in the shooting but neither was hurt, Widmer said.
