TUCSON - Tucson police have taken a 36-year-old man who barricaded himself inside an apartment into custody.
It happened near the corner of Riverview Boulevard and Gila Street.
Police say the incident began when a 911 call from neighbors came in around 2:45 this morning. Neighbors told them they heard an argument and saw a man with a gun.
When police arrived on scene, they approached the apartment and the man opened the door. He made some threatening statements, but would not come out.
About an hour later, they were able to negotiate with the man to let a woman and two children out of the apartment and they are safe this morning. There is no indication that they were being held against their will.
Four apartments have been evacuated. The Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind has been put on lockdown this morning, but that lockdown is expected to be lifted shortly.
