MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. - A Marine aircraft stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma crashed in Imperial, California, Wednesday around 4:20 p.m.
According to a news release, peoples homes were impacted when the Third Marine Aircraft Wing AV-8B Harrier crashed. Damage assessments are being made. Television reports and pictures from the scene show at least one home on fire on a residential street in Imperial, about 90 miles east of San Diego.
It's not known yet if anyone was hurt.
Authorities are on the scene.
The pilot ejected safely and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is underway.
