TUCSON - Agents in the Tucson sector and beyond, have been rattled by Agent Nicholas Ivie's murder.
Art Del Cueto, president of Border Patrol Union local 2544 describe Ivie as a "boots on the ground" kind of agent and a hard worker who is missed.
"It hits my heart that a piece of my heart is gone." Said Del Cueto, "He is me and I am him. We are the same person."
While he didn't know Agent Nicholas Ivie personally he says the hurt is still tremendous.
"You have to learn to shut it on and off. It's more than about you, it's about the oath you took and what you've always wanted to do," said Del Cueto, adding that he wants Ivie's family to know, "they're not alone, that there are a lot of venues within the agency they can reach to. In a time like, this we are all one family."
If members of the community would like to help the family, or send well wishes contact Local 2544 or call: (520) 293-6008.
