NOGALES - Border Patrol agents working at the Interstate 19 checkpoint yesterday found 20 pounds of methamphetamine and 29 pounds of cocaine hidden in a vehicle.

Nogales Station agents referred a vehicle for secondary inspection after a canine team alerted to it, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.

Agents used detection technology to find 34 hidden packages, containing 20 pounds of methamphetamine, worth an estimated $227,700, 29 pounds of cocaine, worth an estimated $327,720, and 12 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $5,900.

The driver, a Mexican national, was immediately arrested, and drugs were transported to the Nogales Station for processing, the release states.
